Natalie Portman was born on the 9th of June, 1981 in Jerusalem. Her grandpa was a Polish Jew and socialist who, when younger, had organized unique camps to show farming to young men moving to Israel - the initial kibbutzim. Her name was not Portman, it was Hershlag. When debuting on-screen, Natalie sensibly had taken her grandmother's name to prevent any disturbance in her schooling and personal life. Her father, Avner, was a doctor, focusing in male fertility. All over Natalie's youth, he would come back from work and declare how many women he had made pregnant that day. At the age of 8, Natalie will be penalized for telling his stories at school. Her mother, Shelley, from Ohio, was a specialist, and later Natalie's adviser.
